Heart Face Shape
Common heart face features
A heart face shape has a broad upper outline and cheek line that narrow toward a smaller chin.
- The upper outline is about as wide as the cheeks, or slightly wider.
- The jaw is clearly narrower than both, so the outline tapers downward.
- The chin often reads small or slightly pointed compared with the forehead area.
Heart versus oval and round
Reference points the detector compares your photo with. Your own numbers will differ; the closest reference becomes the label.
| Shape | Visible pattern | Length ÷ cheek width | Upper ÷ cheek width | Jaw ÷ cheek width | Jaw turn |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Heart | Wide upper outline; jaw narrows clearly to the chin | 1.38 | 1.04 | 0.70 | 145° |
| Oval | Longer than wide; jaw tapers inward to a soft chin | 1.42 | 0.92 | 0.78 | 151° |
| Round | Width close to length; soft, open jaw curve | 1.18 | 0.94 | 0.84 | 158° |
Heart and oval share similar length; the difference is how strongly the lower face narrows. If the upper outline is narrower than the cheeks instead, the pattern moves toward diamond. Round can appear when the jaw is soft but not much narrower.
What a photo cannot establish
The upper width depends on where your hairline and temples are visible. A fringe, tied-back hair or a hat changes the measured top of the outline, and the detector only sees an upper-outline proxy, not the true hairline. Tilting the chin down also makes the lower face look narrower than it is. A single photo cannot establish a fixed face shape or guarantee a styling outcome. This is not a medical assessment.
