Triangle Face Shape

Common triangle face features

A triangle face shape has a broad jaw and a narrower upper outline, often with visible jaw corners.

  1. The jaw is about as wide as the cheeks, or wider.
  2. The upper outline is visibly narrower than the jaw.
  3. The jaw corners are usually clear rather than softly curved.

Triangle versus square and round

Reference points the detector compares your photo with. Your own numbers will differ; the closest reference becomes the label.

ShapeVisible patternLength ÷ cheek widthUpper ÷ cheek widthJaw ÷ cheek widthJaw turn
TriangleJaw widest; upper outline narrower1.320.821.04132°
SquareSimilar upper, cheek and jaw widths; distinct jaw corner1.220.980.96128°
RoundWidth close to length; soft, open jaw curve1.180.940.84158°

Triangle and square both show clear jaw corners; in square the upper outline stays about as wide as the jaw. Round is the next comparison when the jaw is soft. If the tool shows triangle with an alternate, compare the upper width in both guides.

What a photo cannot establish

A beard, jaw tension or a slight head turn can widen the visible jaw. Hair tucked tightly behind the ears narrows the upper outline the tool measures. Check the result with a relaxed jaw and hair loosely pulled back. A single photo cannot establish a fixed face shape or guarantee a styling outcome. This is not a medical assessment.
